In this week's class, I was very successful in getting my last two interviews with my role models. Trying to get a hold of people when they have very busy lives is extremely complicated, especially when you leave call backs and you never get a call back.
My first interview was with Dr. Irwin Benuck. Dr. Benuck was very good in returning my call the same day I left a message to speak with him. I began my interview asking him what made him decide to become a Pediatrician and he stated that he decided in Medical School during his residency. He stated that he liked working with kids and watching them grow. My next question I asked was if he thought it was an easy or hard task and he said that it was pretty hard. There are alot of hours in school and although it was difficult, it was very interesting which inturn made it seem less dificult. The advice that he gave me was to work really hard, study hard, and make sure that this is something I want and that I will be interested in. Then I asked if he felt it was his target in life to happiness and success and he stated yes, he was very happy with his career and happy he made that decision to become a pediatrician.
My next interview was with Dr. Jennifer Bergquist. Dr. Bergquist was very energetic and excited to be answering some of my questions because I was following the same dreams. When I asked her what made her decide to become a pediatrician she stated that she also decided in Medical School during her residency. She said that she enjoyed pediatrics more than the other options in Med. School and pediatrics is more laid back plus she loved working with the kids and seeing them progress. She said that the road to becoming a pediatrician was pretty hard as well and for her, things didnt come easy so she had to put in the extra work and study hard. She also stated that the first two years of Med. School were pretty hard but of course it paid off in the end. The advice she gave me was to make sure that it was something I want to do. She also stated to volunteer and observe other doctors in practice on a day-to-day and their lifestyle because the career is really your life! She stated that becoming a pediatrician was her target out of life and it is very fulfilling. Her job is different from other jobs and thats why she loves it. She loves forming relationships with her patients and their famiies and she feels gratification. I also talked to Dr. Bergquist about Barbara Sher's Wishcraft and the whole background of our assignment and what the book was about and suggested it was a really good book to read and she said she will read it! I also congratulated her on the begginning of her family because she's 14 weeks preganant!!! (Which she also stated she was afraid knowing how her career is already her life but she is happy)
Another thing I was successful in was completing my planning wall although I found it very difficult to put thjings in time I did it! My planning wall is my new profile picture!
